How Do I Design A Room For Home Theater
When your dream of having an in home entertainment system at last comes within your reach, the most important question that crosses your mind should be ‘how do I design a room for home theater?’ Room design is a very important consideration when installing a home theater system as only a well-planned room can give you the best and most complete experience for a home theater. Care should be taken when designing a room for a home theater system in order to minimize echoes and get the best sound effect.
Location
The location of the room is one of the key factors affecting the ‘theater’ experience, and thus it is advisable to choose a room that is least exposed to any external sources of light. It is due to this fact that many people choose an attic or a basement for a home theater. In case you do not have that option, you may select a room that has the minimum number of windows or outlets. In order to enhance the darkness of a room, you may cover the windows and ventilators with dark-colored, heavy curtains. These will keep out the light, even during the day.
Color of the Walls
It is a common mistake to underestimate the color of the walls while designing a room for a home theater, as the lights of the room are mostly switched off. Nevertheless, due consideration should be given to the walls and flooring to avoid any distractions while enjoying your favorite movie. Dark shades such as charcoal gray, deep brown or dark red will accentuate the screen and push the walls into the background. Paints with matte finish or textured designs will prevent the lights reflecting from the screen and avoid a ‘shining’ of the walls.
